Make Disciples

The Disciple-making Mission of Jesus

Jesus’ final command must be our first priority.

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

What is a disciple?

A disciple is someone who follows someone else, learns from them, and is transformed by them.

Everybody is discipled by somebody — parents, coaches, teachers, mentors, etc. And just as you were discipled by somebody, you can be a disciple-maker, too.

What is disciple-making?

Christian disciple-making is entering a relationship with someone for the purpose of helping them become more like Jesus. This can be done for people of all ages and life stages — babies, children, teens, single adults, married couples, parents, and older adults.

You can disciple anyone who needs to take the next step in becoming more like Jesus. And you should disciple them!

Why is it necessary?

Churches tend to be good at large gatherings, programs, and events, which play an important role in the life of a disciple. But real transformation requires transformational relationships. People need disciple-makers in their lives to help them apply the Christian message, to coach them, to correct them, to guide them, and to aspire to full maturity.
